First thing I thought of, and I actually thought he had changed his name to "the artist", due to all I ever heard was "the artist formerly known as prince" and thinking that was "the artist, formally known as prince", I had no idea he changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol or some other crap.

Shows how much it worked mind, as even his biggest fans call themselves Prince fans.

He didn't want people to actually not call him prince I don't think, it was a bit of a f**k you to Warner music who were stifling his creative process

Man was a one-man music making machine- would write, compose, play all parts and sing and just knock out the tunes but they wouldn't let him release it. He had 500 songs on his recording vault.

Once his deal expired he changed it back to prince
