Most of their influence is via social media these days. GBNews has a tiny market share, but has a good online reach through sharing via facebook and twitter

That is exactly which character I think of when I see or hear liz truss speak.

Are a few hundred thousand crazy old loons going to anoint her as PM?

Unfortunately yes.

The only positive is that if we are still alive in 2 years then the tories should be completely unelectable for at least the next 20 years. I am pretty sure that Truss will have ensured we are all dead in a nuclear fireball though.

I work with people who still think Boris the buffoon is the best thing since sliced bread, saw an old dear on tv say she would vote for him again because he was naughty but nice and the way he had been stabbed in the back was a disgrace.

Liz Truss as PM, the mind boggles !
 
I used to run a kitchen showroom, the electric bill was always a shock. The building had big glass windows, single glazed and so freezing in winter and boiling in summer. The heating/cooling fan was awful and used to eat electricity, so we had to back up with fans and electric heaters.
We also had lighting and appliances to keep turned on, into the night to maintain the display.

As a business customer it is hard to find a reasonable tariff to use and electricity used to cost almost as much as rent.
I have no idea how small businesses are managing at the moment, I can see many just going to the wall. Can they pass the costs onto customers? Everyones margins are being squashed whilst costs increase. This will ultimately have an affect in how we do business. No more low cost deals, open for appointment only. The high street will be further diminished, resulting in fewer jobs for people.

Those hardest hit will be those on benefits and/or low wage precariat workers. As such they will be incapable of any co-ordinated protest against the coming storm. Tories know this and even when people are found dead from malnutrition/hypothermia they will still not give a monkey's because ultimately it will be no threat to them.

Agreed
I recall not too long ago a desperate man found dead in his bedsit with pennies and an empty stomach. He died of hunger. Barely made third page.

This is a perfect storm for business, especially small businesses. Their costs are rising so rapidly at a time when they will find it most difficult to pass the cost increases on to customers due to people's rapidly dwindling discretionary spending power.

Awful situation now and only going to get worse over the winter.

Truss is guaranteed to be disaster for the country. Problem is she can keep in power and still be a disaster given our electoral system, so I can't see anything but strikes, non violent disobedience (Don't Pay.uk etc.) and riots to force change. If so many people can't afford heating, food or travel then what they got to lose? UK is so polarized between rich and poor, so this is where it's heading. This is what happens after so many years of Tories and privatization of life's essentials.
