What's your favourite type of tree?

i do like a weeping cherry, but I have always thought a Laburnum as highly attractive, and a readily accessible method of dealing with unwanted visitors.

Apple tree. not only has it given us delicious crunchy fruit..with funny names ... but also dropped the first clue on the existence of gravity

The first written account appears in notes on Newton's life collected by John Conduitt in 1726, the year of Newton's death. It states that: "he first thought of his system of gravitation which he hit upon by observing an apple fall from a tree".

The event occurred in the late summer of 1666. Other accounts state that Newton was sitting in his garden at Woolsthorpe Manor when the event occurred. The first account of there being a specific tree in his garden from which Newton saw the apple fall appears in the book A History of the Town and Soak of Grantham by Edmund Turnor FRS (1806), in the footnote of page 160: 'The tree is still remaining and is showed to strangers'.

I have a small collection of trees - approx 25 Japanese Acers, some Beech, Firs and a badly treated Fig.
Some I have had for over 20 years - messing about with them into shapes and air laying new trees.

I had a beautiful Birch I snaffled from a work car park years 15 years ago as a tiny sapling that grew splendidly - that tree has now resided for years now gently waving over my Big Brothers woodland grave.

fair to say I love trees.

Eucalyptus for me, lived in a house with a small backyard for years, moved September last year to a house with a garden, my dream come true, every spare minute I have I spend in it. Bought shrubs and trees for the first time in my life.
Had a few episodes of poor mental health, as part of the recovery I walk alone most nights (when not in garden) I walked past a house with the most beautiful tree, no idea what it was until finding out it was a eucalyptus, so told my wife I wanted one, my family bought one for me for Father’s Day. It’s so beautiful.
