What's wrong with working from a portacabin?

Hi gents, just expo here.

A few years ago there was a syndicate on here that had a go at the scoop 6 at Royal Ascot. It was a time when there was a lot of horse racing talk with the likes of Kingy, Mr Issac, AMary and others. I chucked in £2.5k in the pot to bump it up and got a £10k return.

Just after this, someone posted on here that they were 'exposing' that I had a job working from a portacabin. From what I can gather, I was 'accused' of having some sort of admin/security job at an industrial site. Ever since then, the portacabin thing has been used as some sort of slur. Someone will post that I'm likely in my portacabin and then others will become emboldened because of this claim. It's a very strange one (at least to me) as I've never understood it.

Anyway, the other day I was chatting to someone who used to work in East Cleveland based out of a portacabin. It got me thinking about what the supposed issue is with this sort of work?

I've spent the majority of my working life working from Portacabins..... and they are sh1t.... the worst ones being those self contained solar powered ones that don't even generate enough electricity to boil the kettle and keep the lights on at the same time.

And even with the lights off, the battery drains on your laptop when plugged in.

I never forgave the bloke who stuck me in one of those in a field in the middle of nowhere for 6 months (through winter) while we undertook Site Investigation for a remote project. T0ssp0t

Yes, but that aside, why would it be used as a slur? That's the bit I'm puzzled about 🙂

Last time I was in a Portacabin one of the plastic chairs collapsed under me.
