A season that over the coming years will be very forgetful.

There will be only 2 stand-out moments for the majority of fans: Chelsea (Home) and Sunderland (A).

There may be a couple of replayed memories such as Greenwood’s free-kick v Leicester and Howsons goal straight after missing a penalty v Huddersfield but other than that it’s not been a great season.

It’s funny to think but even I thought after how poor we were v Stoke away that relegation was a possibility. We were 1-0 down and could have been 3 behind when the red card in the Norwich game completely changed our season. How different the end of the season could have been if not for that refereeing error.

Personally: I really enjoyed the 2 cup games v Exeter and Port Vale as I was able to stay overnight on both trips with my young boy due to school holiday dates working nicely and both were great away trips with great hotels and little activities the next day.

Strangely, in the hotel after Port Vale there was the most Irish family in the bar all in Boro shirts. It really threw me as I never expect someone across the Irish in Man U / Liverpool country to support the Boro. I never got around to asking them why they follow us. And certainly in a midweek, pre-Xmas trip to a lower league side.

For me the gradual improvement as the team has got used to playing together and key players have come in or returned from injury.

We've lost players through injury and transfer throughout the season but it hasn't slowed the development down. McGree, Forss, Coburn, Lenihan, Bangura, Hackney and Smith, out for such a long time yet we've finished close to the play offs. Rogers and Crooks sold but barely missed.

One defeat in the last quarter or so of the season days it all for me. Carrick has the squad organised, they know their roles when they slot into a position.

It's time for a bit of optimism.

We saw a goalkeeper take a throw in. That is by far the most memorable moment of the season, followed only by a game where an opposition player inexplicably just caught the ball in his hands before it had even left the field of play.

The extortionate prices Coventry charge for a pie, has Mike Ashley written all over it. Boooo.
However, on a more sensible note, the league cup run was brilliant, especially the magic nights at Exeter and Port Vale.

The way Lath finished the season it was as if we had signed a new striker on a late loan.
Reminded me of the impact Fuchs and Branca had in a similar number of games.
It really added a whole different aspect to my view of the season, and the close season as well.

Chelsea home game was a better. Atmosphere was one of the best at the Riverside.

Had a great couple of days in London for the away leg and a class build up to the game. Shame about the result but I'll still remember it as a good experience and some quality time with my lad.

I don't think I'll remember much else about this season in 5 years time.

It was quality and if it had led to promotion or even fired us into the play offs I think it would be well remembered but it never.....
