What is the best Coldplay song and why is it Charlie Brown?

I really don't understand the hatred for Coldplay. I recently watched the documentary put together by a lad who has been filming them since they were just college mates messing about and thought they all seemed like decent people. They run the band as a democracy which includes their fifth member, mate and creative manage or whatever. They share the money equally. They clearly put an awful lot into making their live shows as entertaining and involving as possible for their fans. The wristbands thing is genius.
On top of that they have a quite incredible catalogue songs which are full of hooks, good lyrics and easy to remember to sing along with. I get that Chris Martin is a bit marmite, but in the documentary i grew to like him. Mainly because he is funny and understands that he's an irritating berk.
Not sure what I would say their best song is.... probably Fix You, which people will be playing and singing for decades. It's also genius.

The hatred probably comes from them selling out and creating some absolute pop drivel, with a smattering of good songs amongst them. The first couple of albums were great but then they went god squash then started to do ‘Coldplay featuring’.

I’m all for bands experimenting and changing their sound, in fact I demand it for my loyalty, but I demand a bit of integrity to it, that means, don’t make songs with K Pop bands or Rhianna.

Oh and the answer is The Scientist

I'm not a big fan but say exactly the same in terms of the documentary, gave me a lot of respect for them. I think they are an easy band for people to pick on.

I think they are very talented, but not my cup of tea genre wise.

Just another band to me, no more no less.

Deserve respect imo........but I will not be buying any of their albums or wanting to see them live. Each to their own etc 🤷🏻‍♂️

Don't Panic
The Scientist
Politik
Death and all his Friends

Earlier stuff much better, as with most bands. Still an amazing live act. Seen them twice at the Etihad, most recently in June. They've taken what U2 did with stadium concerts in the Zoo TV era and have arguably bettered it.

This really. I've never bought anything by them and I've never willingly listened to anything by them but if they come on the wireless I'm not rushing to turn them off either. What I've heard is perfectly agreeable, some of it catchy, and absolutely fine to have on in the background. Which makes them sound bland, which I don't particularly think they are either.

I’m a big Coldplay fan. Fix You and The Scientist tor me.

They also did a really good cover of “Just For Me” on Radio 1 Live Lounge which is well worth a listen if you like ballads.

Viva La Vida
Clocks
In My Place
The Scientist
Charlie Brown

All great in my book. I quite like that they haven't stood still and that they have moved their sound on .... even though I am not as fond of the later dance orientated stuff.
There's a tendency for snobbery when bands get so big .... and I must confess to guilt where U2 are concerned. But even I can recognise that a song like One is great.

It was interesting to hear that Coldplay's idols and inspiration in terms of live shows is The Flaming Lips.

My kids love them so so took them to the Etihad a month or so ago. I’m not a great fan but what a great show they put on. I grew to like Chris Martin - seems like a genuinely decent bloke.

Another vote for The scientist.
Agree with the fact that the first two albums were good.
Met my wife when the second album was released, the songs remind me of that time, I find her neither dull nor depressing
I also like - death and all of his friends, as I type the song title, I giggle as that does sound depressing 😁
