I think a lot of people, ex-players included, got a bit caught up in the moment during the first lockdown. I’ve heard mixed reports about whether or not it was actually a “hoax”.
Like the groups of mates who all pledged to go to Las Vegas or Ibiza together the minute lockdown was over etc, and it never happened.
Someone pointed out recently that 2026 is 150 year anniversary of MFC, so maybe something like that could happen then, but I still don’t feel it would have anything like the take up that was implied during the first covid lockdown, which looking back was a completely surreal experience (even more surreal than it seemed at the time).
