Must be different in the US. The NBC4 meteorologist told us on Monday that it was the first day of meteorological summer.To be fair my calendar tells me summer doesn't officially start until towards the end of the month
From a meteorological perspective, summer begins when we get to the month of June, and carries on through until the beginning of September. If you prefer to look at things from an astrological point of view however, then summer won’t start until the summer solstice, which marks the longest day of the year and falls on 20 June this year.
