We've got a decent side if we line up 4-2-3-1

At least with a back 4 we have mobility in the wide areas and the two wingers can spend more time in the offensive third than tracking back constantly

But i think Wilder is Dogmatic to the 3-5-2, just as Pulis was to the flat back 9

It’s certainly an option if injuries hit the midfield.

Giles and Jones are probably the two best wing backs in the league though, so it makes sense to stick with that formation if we still have the numbers in midfield to make it work

I was thinking this earlier, you cut down the 3 required midfielders and we have probably McGree, Hoppe and Watmore who could play at 10.

Just don’t think Wilder will let go of a back 5 and why should he? The other option which wilder has spoke about before is to play a 10 or 2 10’s, something like 5-2-1-2 or 5-2-2-1 but I don’t know if that would leave us too light in midfield.

McCree can play as a 10, i disagree anybody else is capable of playing as a 10, its a special skillset, you can't just lump in a striker and say he can play as a 10
when they don't have the attributes to play it

Yep, I don't know why Wilder doesn't change his formation a little to suit certain games and/or injuries. He's supposed to be the best manager in the league according to some on here.... Neil Warnock certainly switched things around yet ironically got labelled as a dinosaur.
It's all about adapting and responding quickly during a game when things change.
Have teams sussed out our tactics under Wilder?
Most definitely 👍

Said it before, he plays the opposite of total football. I like what he does, but now more than ever the devotion to a single approach has to be seen as unhelpful dogma.

Giles and Jones are potentially the two worst full backs in the league so the back four makes sense.
I would occasionally start Jones on the bench as he has had impact in the past as a sub..

I'd actually love to see that line up.

It might help Jones get back to his best too - i think he would be lethal in a front 3 as opposed to a wingback.

I think you’re 100% right.

Can’t see Chris Wilder lasting the weekend.. I think he’s bottled it. Step forward Tony Mowbray on Monday, ripping off his shirt, crossing the floor and beating his chest to the south stand.

“I’M PURE FUGGING BORO ARN’T WE!!!!!!!”

Steffen/Roberts/Daniels

Dijk/Smith
Paddy/Hannah
Fry/Clarke
Bola/Bilongo

Crooks/Howson/Conteh
Mowett/Boyd-Munce

Jones/Gibson
McCree/Watmore/Cornet
Giles/Forss

Muniz/Akpom/Hoppe

Could still do with a couple of midfielders!
