West Ham / Geordies - VAR

West Ham one was by far the worst VAR decision I've seen in a long time (maybe ever).

Newcastle one was very bad also.

Both referee's (both the match day official and VAR) should be heavily penalised and demoted immediately.
Based on those decisions, you'd think they literally have no clue about football.

Scandalous that both decisions were overturned by VAR.

Both were awful.

Willock was pushed into the keeper but a statement has been released saying it was viewed as 'normal contact'..... 🤷‍♂️ Robert Huth is on 5live and just described the statement as 'nonsense'. I think most people who have played the game, even at amateur level, would agree.

Yep. VAR couldn't get involved.

Then again, if the whistle wasn't blown, who's to say Mahrez wouldn't have closed him down?

It does look likely he'd have got the shot off and scored though.

The level of refereeing in this country is beyond pathetic.

Gets even worse the lower the leagues you go.

Every single week there's a f*ck up in our match (whether it's for or against us).
Aye the ref's whistle meant that the City players stopped playing, but these days the officials usually allow a move to be completed before flagging for offside.

They're having a really good go at ruining a cracking game here. 2 all draw. Fantastic goal scored. 4 and a half minutes to rule it out. Dreadful. And for what. End this horse****.

Fair enough by the letter of the law, even though it's **** and denied us a brilliant goal.

But why did that take so long, and why did they ask the referee to review it himself?

He was visibly offside and he definitely tried to play the ball, that should have taken 30 seconds to decide at most.

They took a long time because they want to spend as long as possible getting it correct. Because if they don't they'll have some puffed up self important ****** like Alan shearer ranting at them for another 5 minutes.

Agree on the Newcastle one, Willock is clearly shoved. However I'm not sure about the WHU one, Bowen's contact with Mendy doesn't seem entirely 'natural'. It looks as if he deliberately drags his trailing leg across the keeper's body, if so it's a foul. The keeper's ridiculous play acting afterwards is of no consequence.
From what I saw
The goal keeper goes down and pushes the ball away
Bowen kicked the keeper instead of jumping over him?

On the halfway line a player tackles the oppo and clearly gets the ball
The oppo has no option but to try and jump but drops his foot and falls over ?
