West Brom vs Boro - Highlights

First time I've seen the goals. Was expecting a much more clear cut push on Howson from what I'd read on here and heard on the radio. I don't normally fall on this side of the robust play debate but that doesn't look like a foul to me.
Yeah it’s definitely a foul. Two handed push in the back.

Doesn’t matter how “strong” you are, a push in the back is gonna unbalance you.

I guess the ref was ball watching.

Carrick has to take positives as it is his job to motivate the players. The squad we have is nowhere near the expectations of us fans at the start of the season, a promotion push. We might get lucky with one or two of the players we have signed, but let’s face it the law of averages suggests that’s the best we can hope for. However that’s the model we are working to. As I’ve said elsewhere we need to be patient and my expectations are significantly lowered since the start of the season. Let’s face it if we were serious about promotion we would’ve kept Akpom.

Yep agree, also a big week this week and we will know by the transfer activity what our intentions are so I suspect some transfers we have been working on all summer and the merry go round only starts in the final week that being said though the standard of defending as a team is very weak and was all last season and similar to when Woody was in charge, we are playing good football at times but look at yesterday we scored and then west brom exploit our inability to close down and score straight away.

The body language of the players, OK first goal was a foul.
Second pick the ball up, howson jogs watching him Silvera has the pace to get back but doesn't try and make a tackle, fry has to step out and doesn't he just stands still.

Third terrible mistake although keeper could of been more alert and stayed on his feet as he could see asantes movement in front of him, I know maybe I'm a little over critical there but every players job is to be alert to there game.

4th we had multiple chances to win the tackle on the left hand side and we just half tackled on two occasions then again fry stood of his man/turns his body for the shot, defensively it really is school boy stuff and think we really need some aggressive play, could that come from a younger player who knows we just seem to lack a bit of everything at the minute and onfidence is slowly draining out the pack.

Hopefully we can beat Bolton and QPR get a few ready made players through the door of proven quality as that is what we are lacking IMO and end before the international break on a bit of a positive.

Interesting to see the 'sarcastic' applause that Lenihan gives Engel for his pass back during the WBA goal celebrations.
But was it a sarcastic round of applause, or as I saw it, an attempt to encourage Engel to get his head up and not dwell on his mistake. Without knowing what Leneghan said to him we’ll never know.
