We're doomed!

Last Blades victory at the Riverside 5th October 1997.
Although they are 7 unbeaten in 7 games so we have got that going for us.
Will Neil's British lads do the business tonight?

I'd rather have played them a few weeks ago. They seem to be getting up and running.

I read yesterday that Hull have lost 22 out of 27 champo games (clearly going over different seasons)

So very much like Blackpool winning away and Reading not keeping a clean sheet. You know what's going to happen😂

We have got to start on the front foot tonight. If we start with only one up top we will eventually sit back and allow Sheff U to dominate and the outcome will be predictable.
How many times have we said pick a team to win and let them bother about the problems we cause them.
Start with Uche and Sporar as a pair!

Definitely bring Uche back. I don't understand why he's been canned after being one of the few positives.

We maybe have to play Sporar in a percentage of games.

I'd maybe give Watmore a runout. Although he's hardly had a kick.

Good shout about Watmore, I forgot about him....... and he's Br....h.

When we signed Sporar I'm sure everything was telling us he can't play up on his own. So we've played him up on his own.

Probably our best player last year. I thought he was kind of cast aside post his covid and when Kebabo / Bolasie and NML came in.

A bit like Marvin Johnson. Just seemed to drop down the pecking order for 'names'.

after Warnock's comments, I'd say Watmore is nailed to play tonight. Watmore-Tav-Jones behind Uche will probably be the front 4 with Crooks/Howson behind.

It depends if Uche has decided he's British. I think he's thinking of playing for Nigeria. That's maybe why he's dropped😂😂

Jokes aside I'd play Uche. I'd got used to seeing us with a big lad up top. The game on Saturday was crying out for him as Crooks was causing issues when he went down the middle.

NW new before the game about Reading's problems in central defence and our disallowed goal showed what a big man could do. Yet he persevered with a lone striker even though it was clear it wasn't working. Then like you Disco my jaw dropped when he brought Olusanya on.
Uche Watmore/Sporar a must tonight

This is a genuine question and hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be able to answer it. Why don't teams in general play with 2 up front anymore. Traditionally in the English game a fast/skillful striker would play off a strong player who is good in the air. Most successful prem teams in the 90s and early 2000s did that, I'm just wondering why that stopped working and a lone striker is more the thing now?

I guess sooner or later someone will try it again and we'll move full circle. I think that the modern emphasis is on "control" of the ball and the middle of the park which rather negates the two up top approach. We've seen a return to a front three (more of a Christmas tree thing than a true front three to be fair - one up and two off). You also have the expectation of wing backs / full backs as attackers.

Funny old game innit.

Maybe that only works if both teams do it, teams seem to be worried about being overrun in midfield, it is like a luxury having 2 forwards.
