Diagnosed with breast cancer yesterday afternoon....such a shock...no family history...right side of 50 etc etc. Yesterday we cried....today my attitude has totally changed....and "Arthur" (as my daughter has named it because it's always blokes who cause the aggro and luckily she has the same dark sense of humour as I do in these situations) can go and f@@k himself....I don't intend on letting him stay long!!

Sorry to hear this.

Our mam had exactly the same attitude when she was diagnosed waaaaay back in 1992. She beat it. Medical diagnosis, treatment and technology has also come on ridiculously since then.....her treatment was a bit....brutal to say the least.

Nana also beat breast cancer twice when she was in her late 60s / early 70s

So you've got this 👊

Been through it all last year, my wife had her operation 21st December 2022, finished her treatment in the summer, was back at work at the start of the school year, although she will be on tablets for the next 5 years(Minimum) we just had her now yearly check and all is OK, be back again at the end of this year.

Good luck, it will be tough at times, but it looks like your starting with the right attitude, don't change that.

I was diagnosed with Lung cancer in March, after a battery of test -cat ,pet scans inc a live cat scan biopsy(ouch) I had 60% of my left lung removed in April and from May 5 months of Chemo, I had the luck my Lymph glands were clear as I couldnt have the main op without this, it would have been Chemo first. Back at work and walking for miles along the Tees.Love luck and best wishes to you. You do meet some remarkable people along the way. Shout out for lung health UHNT and especially Ward 32 and ICU JCUH.

Sorry to hear your sad news Legz.. here’s hoping ‘Arthur’s’ unwelcome stay is a short one and you’re back to full health soon. As always this board will be alongside you for support and general nonsense all the way. x

Horrible news Legz, but exactly the right attitude to kick Arthur’s head to bits!

You’ll find strength you never knew you had and love and support you always hoped you had.

F*ck you Arthur and much love to you Legz x

Sorry to hear this Legz, as someone who was diagnosed with throat cancer (never smoked) last July, I know it can be scary, just remember there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I like you cried, my first question to my consultant was when do I start treatment'

I've finished treatment now, 6 weeks of intense chemo and radiotherapy, fingers crossed its done trick.
