Welcome back Yvette Cooper

She is a Patel. She introduced ESA tests so stringent that Ian Duncan Smith kept them. Under her watch, if an amputee could lift a cardboard box with his stumps he was fit for work. If a person with no speech could write on a board 'the office is on fire' they lost points. If a deaf person could read that sign they lost points.
She repeatedly voted for war and against enquiries into war and proudly posed with her Control Immigration mug.
Oh, and she flipped her house three times.

Proof, if any is still needed, that Starmer's Labour are nothing but red Tories, finished as a party for working people.
Careful mate. They don't like hearing that kind of thing on here. I agree with you completely though of course.

Yes, there are some valid concerns on election in those areas and also on surveillance and related issues.

I hope her war 'eagerness' would be more than counteracted by Lammy as Foreign Secretary. In fact the Foreign Office is probably going to be key to improving the immigration situation and international relations. Lammy is a good fit there. He was a fierce opponent of Brexit, so Europe will work with him and he is a very good friend of Obama, so the USA while there is a Democrat administration at least, will work productively.

as for Humans Rights vs Law and Order balance, Starmer has shown he has regard for both in the past and can balance the two, hopefully.

Until then, it will be a plus that Patel can't paint Cooper as weak on this.

Is there anyone on the Labour front bench you actually support?
I don't think there is, but I doubt that Starmer would be too concerned.

He'll bank on winning more votes in marginals from the right than the left of where the party sat (or was perceived to sit, probably more accurately) under Corbyn's leadership.

In that case she should go down well with the t***s who are attacking the RNLI. Voltaire on a football message board, always told the Geordies that I used to work with, that this board was a cut above.

I think she’ll stick it right up Patel. If I was BJ, who is already reported to be concerned about Patel’s performance, I’d be very concerned about this appointment.
