We won't be signing a CB

Says Carrick. We go with the 3 we've got available.

Ayling can play there too tbf but I'd of signed one personally.

Seems a risk. Rav has missed quite a few games due to injuries already, and Dael has missed large chunks of football throughout his career with various injuries

Although suppose we do have Ayling, Howson and at a push, a very big push, Borges can play there.

The lad from Swindon ?

He's too young to be playing for us just yet. Looked way of it in the cup game. Bright future prospect though and yeah I guess him and Wilson are there for an absolute emergency but doubt we will see either used this season again.

Yeah Ayling isn't ideal there, more than happy with him on the right of a back 3, but not for a run of games in a back 4

I'm surprised by this. Playing with 2 CDs you'd want 4 available senior pros. I guess Ayling could play there in an emergency, ditto Howson but to have 3 first team options seems short-sighted.

Say one gets a red card they missing for three games that might be a whole week of games you should have 4 fit defenders really am surprised by it

The issue we have is that nobody is likely to come in on loan to be 4th choice. The alternative is splashing some cash but are you really going to do that on a 4th choice CB?

This is an ideal situation for one of the Academy lads to step up but not sure we have one good enough. Hunt is still very raw.

We did end up with Dean Whithead at RB against Norwich
Yeah, that was a bit odd. The play-offs were Whitehead's only 3 games that season I think. Although he wasn't picked because of injuries, he was just preferred to Nsue in the semis and the final.
Before that, Kalas had also been picked ahead of Nsue at the end of the season, but Kalas couldn't take part in the Play-Offs, because his loan deal ended at the end of the normal season.
Not sure what Nsue had done wrong.

And knowing that issue we still allowed Clarke to go. Yes it is risky
