Gazzette said the other day he's a main target but Rotherham are in a bit of a pickle. Obviously they're in a fight to stay up but he's refusing to sign a new deal so they need to decide whether they want to keep him to try ensure they stay up then lose him for free or get some money for him.
If its the latter we're waiting in the wings

I thought it was dependant on Huddersfield Town midfielder Jon Russell moving to Rotherham.. might not be happening now.
They obviously need a replacement in before he leaves.

Yup 100% this, they have to sell him, as they need/ can't afford to miss out on the money, but they also need a replacement or they're 100% screwed. The problem for them is if he does go in summer, it will be for zero and they'll get zero, and will likely go down next year anyway. Best to try and stay up this year, with transfer money I think.
Not a great position to be in, for them.
He doesn't have long on his contract, but we won't get him cheap as they know they could market him out at full whack and someone will pay. It's just a case of whether that someone is us, or someone else, he won't be short of options that's for sure. To be that good, in a bad side, takes some doing, he carries them, a bit like Gyokeres does at Coventry.
What might help us is that he's a Gateshead lad, fairly local and Newcastle are out of his league now and Sunderland not good enough for where he wants to be, he won't want to be stuck there 3-4 years on a contract etc.

If it goes to the last day he'll be going for more money than we'll want to be paying and he'll end up somewhere else and we'll end up with no-one, or a cack alternative, like we always do on the last day.
