Watmore to West Brom?

Tricky. After we bring him in form the wilderness you kind of feel he owes us. But that's sentimental and of course he doesn't. Has to look after himself of course and with his injury record if he gets a 2 or 3 year deal on PL money who could blame him for taking it.

Cant we just offer them the goal machines BA and CA. for free

Don’t know why but I am convinced he is going to stay here. Think he will appreciate Warnock and the fact he lives here and is doing well, I hope I’m right.
And....hundred room quotes the Tories mantra, look after yourself and stuff those who helped along the way....
We must discover more caring principles and I’m relying on watmore as he is a clever chap academically so let’s hope that extends to his emotional intelligence 👍

Yeah the fact he is a clever fella and not the ‘mercenary type’ gives me hope. But whatever he chooses, good luck to him. He’s played his part for us. He could become a real favourite and hero if he stays, he’s the type of player a boro crowd love and I’m sure he would feel that once we are allowed back in to support him and the team.

If he wants to play for Allardyce on Prem money On a 3 year deal say then it’s his choice. Good luck to the lad whatever he decides to do, he’s had a terrible time so I won’t hold it against him. I hope he stays and enjoys promotion with us as we pass Albion on their way down.

In footballing terms it would be a mistake. He's very unlikely to play if he moves to West Brom, they'd just be taking a punt on him whereas here he's very much going to start most weeks for us. He might even increase his earning potential by staying till the end of the season and proving his fitness/ability.

Does he need the money? I don't know. But it's tricky, we can't really afford to gamble on offering him a longish contract with his injury record. If he needs the money/security, as much as he'd probably rather stay and play here he'll potentially be able to get a contract worth multiple times what we can offer at a prem club. And I'm sure his injury record will be at the back of his own mind too.

Possibly also depends on how serious West Brom are about it.

He certainly wont be getting offered a 3 yr contract on PL wages if he signs for WBA.
Clubs like WBA and us are getting realistic these days and at the moment they are staring at the EFL. There is no way they will be offering 3 years on PL wages.

It’s big Sam factor more than West Brom for me. That’s the only concern in my opinion, he has a great relationship with him and is a favourite of Sams. Hopefully he’s built a similar rapport with Warnock, it looks to me like he has.

Be a loss if he goes. The worry is Big Fat Sam could be a pull for him having worked for him before. WBA will be relegated so a short time for Prem football. Money v loyalty - we all know how most footballers will decide!

Sorry but we could have wrapped this up quietly a long time ago. He proved himself worth the risk of an 18 month contract weeks ago. We typically didn’t have the financial muscle to even afford 18 months at £10k a month so hung on for the cheapest possible solution. If WBA or anyone else is now offering 3 years at £30k who amongst us in his situation wouldn’t bite their hands off. If we don’t get him don’t look at anyone but those at the top of the clubs hierarchal structure to blame or accept we are completely broke and hanging on by our fingernails financially

Yep, definitely. No chance West Brom would be interested otherwise. Hopefully he'll decide being a starter in a side fighting at the top of the table is preferable to being a (likely) bit part player in a relegation scrap.

Im confident! Not that like means anything 😀

Hard to believe he'll turn down better money in the Premier League to stay with us especially given his injury record. Can't believe he'll have earned enough in his career so far to be set up for life. Hope I'm wrong, would love to see him stay but the fact he hasn't signed yet & Warnock saying he'll lose no sleep over it if he doesn't sign doesn't look promising.

If I was him I’d be wary of the fact I’d had 2 ACL injuries so although sounds dramatic , he could be one kick from a scuppered career . Consequently I’d get myself a long handsome deal wherever I could . Remember he isn’t a Teessider
Agreed. I think only a Teessider would be tempted to put Boro first
Obviously we dont know the figures - so if its only a small difference and not a much longer deal we may have more chance

I love this kid and was one of f the first to trumpet him when some fans were questioning the signing but you can't blame him if he goes to West Brom; a manager who knows and appreciates him, prem football and prem wages!
