Was not selling Latte Lath the best bit of business the club has ever done?

I'll admit I was concerned at the time regarding how he'd respond to being unable to get his PL move. I have to say his attitude has been amazing.

Even when he was going through the goal drought his head never dropped - he continued to work hard for the team and must have believed himself that eventually the goals would come.
Easy to say this now, but I had a feeling he wouldn't spit the dummy, just seems like a genuinely decent lad. You could say the same about Rogers, even while the Villa move was playing out he didn't lose focus or make the wrong noises.

The recruitment team talk a lot about character as well as ability/potential, and I think right now it feels like they're nailing it on both fronts.

Selling in January (even if we get a higher fee than what Ipswich offered on DD) would be ridiculous. The lad is back to where he was last season. He's full of confidence and the goals are flying in (never doubted it).

Keeping him is absolutely vital if we are serious about promotion. If we get promoted I have no doubt that he would be more than happy to stay, he would get a nice pay rise. Everyone's a winner. If we don't go up but he's scored plenty of goals for the second season running, then the fee is much higher come the summer, should we wish to sell at that point.

In January the message has to be, NOT FOR SALE.

He would leave a massive gap to fill but if any club offered 25m or more,I honestly don't think we could afford to turn it down especially if he wanted the move

LL has everything you want in a striker. He's quick, good in the air, a very decent finisher and perhaps most importantly in the modern game, a bloody hard worker.
He's a handful for any team in the division and even if he doesn't score he opens opportunities for others.
Like all strikers, he thrives on confidence and I think we've handled him excellently in his time here and he's responded in the right manner.
I'm confident that he'll be a consistent scorer and won't worry if he has a barren spell.
At some point the Ipswich bid will be looked on as being very cheeky, I am that confident in his quality.

It’s better risk management to keep him when the prospect of promotion is a realistic possibility and any assetts are still ours to be sold in the summer if we choose . If we constantly keep selling it’s assetts it’s a model that just might sustain championship football without ambition.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we offer him a new contract soon with a huge jump in wages should we go up. That might tempt him to stay even if a big offer does come in and we’re in and around the autos at Chrimbo. Of course, if a well established prem team comes in for him it might be hard to keep hold of him. Really hope he doesn’t go because he’s so good when he’s on.

How much did Man City pay for Alan Kernaghan 30 yrs ago? About £2m wasn't it? Not much less than the record breaking fee Man Utd paid for Pallister a few yrs before that.

I think as a club the right thing to do is do everything to stay a consistent sustainable top 10 championship club. In with a chance every year, but never overcomitting for it.

If 20-25m came along.

We sell
- 4-6m on a replacement to challenge Conway.
- 4-6m on a right back upgrade
- 4-6m on a back up 10

And still have 7-18m for club stability/wages/facilities/scouting.

I like the long term plan and happy to win more than we lose in the Championship- being a run away from promotion.

There's always a price and certain players we can lose and not feel to much of a void but in LL I feel we should be saying no to any bid and I hope the squad buys into what we hope to achieve this year, if we fail then he can go but otherwise all should be staying and only moving on fringe players who need game time and replacing with better options if possible.

Engel may go on loan if we target a LB
Gilbert may look for a loan
Lenihan or Smith if remotely fit may look for a loan

Other than that I wouldn't be moving anyone!

Kernaghan was £1.6m replaced by 750k Steve Vickers.

Phillips was also sold to be replaced by Liburd and Falconer was also moved on and Kav took his place in the team.

He’s now in the kind of form he finished the season in . We’ve got 30 games left , 15 will put him over 20. Maybe this is the yr we get 2 scoring over 20 or better if Azaz shows his class

The best bit of transfer business the Boro has ever done is refusing to accept £6M for Gestede and selling Bamford instead in the next window….. Oh wait on 👀
