Warnock's comments on Bola

Have to be thicked-skinned as an athlete as you know you’ll always be open criticisms from anyone and everyone— even Bola should realize that his previous shenanigans would eventually catch up with him— it doesn’t matter what age you are these days if you post something that could be interpreted as being hurtful etc then you could be be held accountable. Ok, he was 14 and that was several years ago the fact is we don’t know what he was reported to have said and how much harm he caused back then.

He looked really ***ed off after the Blackburn game in the carpark. Probably hasn’t taken being dropped well.

I didn’t say moving I said treatment as it’s clear warnock and spence didn’t get on. Even in his interview yesterday he had a sly dig at spence again.
I thought the opposite actually zorro - when I chatted to Warnock in Devon about how well Hayden Coulson had played against Tavistock he immediately replied with both Coulson and Spence played really well today and then went on to talk up Spence. At press conferences early in the season he has talked about how Spence has found a new attitide, a new role and grown up etc. He even joked about this when he was talking about another player just last week. So, am not sure they fell out. But I also can't see how it would be connected to Bola.
Bola has been carrying an injury through pre season. Only illness from Coulson meant Bola played at Fulham when not match fit or properly fit. But that went well for him and us. But Bola is also obviously under pressure from this FA charge.

Letting Coulson leave when we don't have another left back seems even more bizarre now. When his loan to Ipswich was confirmed we all assumed that signing a new left back was imminent. Now we find ourselves 6 games into the season without a fit recognised left back, and we are having to play arguably this season's best player out of position to accommodate a different system. Its madness.

I read Coulson's interview with the Ipswich paper yesterday and he said he knew he was going to Ipswich for most of the summer but wasn't allowed to sign until we'd got a replacement in. It just seems weird. It has done for months. I said it on Saturday evening that it's sort of Strachan-esque in many ways.

They waltzed past Bamba time and time again on Saturday. Not his fault he had to come in at the last minute after McNairs injury but it amazes me that Warnock thought he had a good game.
I really think we have to put this into context here, weighing up a defeat against an incredible human achievement in Sol Bamba starting 90 minutes for the first time since his cancer diagnosis. In some respects maybe it is comparable to another 36 year old making his Man United return.

He's a good player is Marc Bola and we are a shambles when he doesn't play.
What he said 9 years ago as a 14 year old boy is completely irrelevant and the club should have been publicly stronger in his defence.

I agree that it's irrelevant and it's bizarre that's it's being chased up given he was a child and it was 9 years ago, but I'm not sure I'd be entirely comfortable with the club publicly defending a player for making homophobic comments, even if he was a kid.

Support him behind the scenes and draw a line under it when the proceedings are over? Absolutely.

But I think it could easily create a PR backlash if they were seen to be defending or minimising homophobia, and it wouldn't really change the outcome of the charges by doing so.

and deeply upsetting I’d imagine as well.
Do you think @zorro_mfc ?

I can't help but feel it wouldn't bother you too much?

I think I'd have been in Bola's shoes I'd be really annoyed and might have given a few interviews (unless there is some FA gagging order thing around it?).

But as a professional sportsman who will have had the odd slating in the press and angry fan giving him pelters, along with some choice words from a few managers you would be used to dealing with disciplinary comments and dealing with it you think?

He played the full 90 minutes against Blackpool.

I don't blame Bamba, he was a last minute change, but by all accounts except Warnock's, he really struggled on Saturday.

It's impressive that he's come back from cancer and continued his career at his age, but it doesn't stop a bad performance being bad.

Bola's decent. A solid Championship left back. No more. We're feeling his loss more than usual purely because we have absolutely nothing to replace him with.

You can say why this is a bit ridiculous whilst not condoning homophobia

Taverniers body language , considering how he is usually chirpy and lively was very off yesterday
He needs to get his head out of his ars* and concentrate on playing football, to busy with the stupid image things, hoping over the line, pointing skywards kissing tattoos and that sort of nonsense, when you’re one of the world’s best ,you can get away with it ,when you’re average it just looks forced.Even when retrieving the balls for corners ,he tried to flick it up into his hands and twice it just rolled away from him , exactly the same as during the game. Then at the final whistle he picks up the ball and launches it ,all for effect ,not fooling me son you were shocking and you can’t keep putting in one or two good performances in every five.
