Across footi media Warnock has already identified Welsh International defender Chris Gunter from Reading as a target at the end of the season.
Gunter is available on a free and Warnock is quoted the current Boro team "lacks a leader".
If he is planning for next season - it suggests he may well be planning on stopping on for at least another season?
Wonder if he has been offered a new contract if the fire-fighting is successful, or whether he has been offered a rolling contract?
Mmmm

No real issue with that as a signing, if it's a 2 year contract, he'll be 31 but it'd be nice to have an actual right back as a right back.

Doesn't sound good for Dijksteel if there was any truth in the rumour.

Hope we arent abandoning the plan to buy younger players already, this wouldnt be a bad signing and would fill a problem position but wouldnt want us to go back to signing players 30+ as its never a long term strategy

I may be wrong here but did he turn down a move here a few years ago? Wouldn't have a problem with signing him now mind.

I assume we need the next seasons manager to confirm if he wants a right back too? Spence and Coulson seem ideally suited to the wing back role. So if we are intending on signing an experienced right back, they won't be playing there.

Is Warnock just here to the end of the season or have we given him a longer deal ?
Depends what Division we are in surely?
I'd have him here next season if we stay up. Get us into the play offs at least and if we get promoted again, (which is a pipe dream at the moment) go from there.
