Warnock calling every player the best in the league

Neil Warnock keeps calling McNair the best he’s ever managed, Fry, Bola, Howson and Dijksteel the best in the league in their positions, Spence potentially top class etc. Do you think this is because he’s expecting sales or bids and wants to maximise any offers that come in or is it solely to boost confidence and belief in the players?

Tbh I think it loses its meaning when he says it about every player.

He's said that Dijksteel & McNair are the best in the league, that Fry & McNair are the best two in the league and Dijkstreel, Fry, McNair & Bola are the best back four in the league.

He said he was surprised with how good Howson was..

Not said so much regarding Roberts & Britt

It would be a bit ridiculous if he said it about every player in the squad. I’m not criticising in any way. I just wondered what the motive was behind it and what others thought.

Personally I think it’s a bit of both. We can expect bids next month or if not, at the end of the season. That’s why players have been offered new deals recently. Public praise will attract attention and potentially put clubs off bidding low. It will also instil confidence in players and improve them as we’ve seen with Bola, Fry and Dijksteel in particular.

It’s just his management style, and how he gets them to run through brick walls for him. Of course he will want to deter clubs from bidding in January (or want them to put in massive offers we can’t say no to) but I doubt there’s anything remotely contrived about it.

Having watched us so far I do think McNair, Fry, Bola, Dijksteel and Howson are the best, in their positions in the league. Not sure about the keeper though and we need wingers and a striker.

I would say Dijksteel / Fry and Mcnair are the best defenders in the league. I can't think of many better in terms of age etc.

He was asked directly about Mcnair as in who's the best. I definitely don't think he's saying it about everyone.

Howson and Bola have improved 10 fold. You'd need not to have eyes to not see that? I don't see the issue? What's wrong with building up his players?

IIt's not blind credit like Woody kept giving Britt. I remember last season when he was giving it 'he's my No9 and I back him 100%'etc. That was based on no substance whatsoever.

We have one of the best defences so clearly the defence deserves praise. He's also pretty quick to throw platers under the bus in terms of mistakes or decision making. So works both ways.

Just don't really get how you can find anything negative about this?

The way Neil Warnock works with players is to praise them when they perform well
His goal is to build a personal relationship with them whereby....‘I rate you’....and the player thinks....’wow, I’m impressing him’. .. ‘I need to keep doing that and I’m doing really well too....I am obviously really good and I can keep this going to keep my place and keep improving’

Neil Warnock psychologically works on each player one on one
In the same way he is with Britt and Chuba
Not false praise but praise when it’s due but when it comes from him it’s authentic and believe able
That’s the key to it. Authenticity

His man management skills, his, way of building players confidence, telling them they can achieve anything, are as good as anyone & will run through a brick wall for him

I'm a big believer a manager & club have to be a certain fit to succeed, though with NW he's done it at every club he's been, though IMHO I do not think any other manager in football would have got individual players to play consistently at the level they are presently playing

It is very clever management. He not only said Paddy best centre back in league but an average midfielder. Just reminding him that this is permanent not temporary

And Paddy will play in Europe was his comment .
Celtic , Rangers , Man U , City , Spurs , Chelsea , LFC , WHU , Everton , Villa , LCFC,Saints, take your pick Paddy .

It's his man management nothing more or less. He is giving praise where it is deserved and doing it publicly to create a feel good factor amongst the squad.

It also allows him to tell a player they owe him a big performance after a lacklustre display without resorting to shouting and bollocking which, any decent manager will tell you, doesn't work, in any walk of life.
