Warnock agrees 1 year deal

It's definitely a "safe" appointment but given Gibson's track record in recent seasons more than happy with that.

I think he's probably the right man at the right time. Challenging for the play-offs is very optimistic but I'd be surprised if weren't top half. The squad has been decimated and I trust he'll know exactly the right type of player to bring in to ensure we have a much more stable team.

Another thing he has over Pulis is that he's much more used to working on a budget and looking for bargains.

I definitely think it’s the right man right time, and safe is just what we need.

I have a couple reservations about whether his heart is in it and it’ll be interesting to see if he relocates for the year

The other is continuity, I’ve got a feeling it’s Kevin Blackwell once Warnock goes

Be over the moon if we get Warnock signed for next season.

The only thing that worries me, is the future past Warnock.

If he's only here for 1 season, then what's the plan for 2-5 years?

We have to have a plan in place long than 1 season.

Have to agree with Gaz, think Warnock will move to a D of F type roll with Blackwell taking day to day control of coaching / management

No Warnock philosophy is to win games admittedly 1-0 if poss but pullis philosophy is to not get beat and if you win it’s a bonus.

Warnock is a promotion specialist
Pullis was a relegation avoider

The only similarity is their age.

Look at that the no of chances we created and the shots in target in warnocks games wince he arrived. He believes in being direct getting in the box and shooting.
Yes I would agree with that
Pulis should have been given the job once we were in the PL

Comparing Warnock to Pulis is like comparing apples to oranges.

Completely different in their approach.

The only thing they have in common is experience in the English leagues.

Thankfully, we now have the right one of the two in charge who knows how to set up to win games instead of setting up not to lose.

Well you'd hope (maybe a tad optimistically) that they'll be having talks around March/April about whether he's staying on or not and start planning for that if not.

I assume part of his remit is to do what Pulis failed to do (despite what he claimed) and leave the club, particularly the team, in a healthy position so that whoever succeeds him has a good starting point.

You would of sacked Karanka as soon as we got promoted and replace him with Pulis? A manager who was still in work by the way at West Brom. Absolutely no chance would I have got rid of Aitor to do that

I don’t have reversations is heart are in it at all. As soon as he got the job he got his 2 work mates to come and help him taking one from a decent role at Northampton who were in a play off final at the time. There was no chance Jepson would of give up a job to help his mate out for a few games then End up being unemployed. I reckon what was said from the very first phone call with Gibson, if I keep you up I would like a proper crack at this and would like to get Jepson and Blackwell in right away to help me do it.

That's the one thing that worries me if it's Warnock, afterwards. It'd be massively difficult for Blackwell (or anyone) to go from being number 2 to the gaffer. As a number 2 you usually have a different dynamic with the team to the manager. More often than not the number 2 is closer to the players, whilst the manager has to have that slight distance. It would put Blackwell in a difficult position.

Anyway, let's forget about a year's time and concentrate on the here and now and the squad overhaul.

He's on 9 promotions which is already a record. I reckon he will be going for the first man to reach double figures. That'll mean us having a season like he had at Cardiff the other year.
On paper, we have a better squad than they did then.

Still should be an interesting few months of transfer activity & see what happens next year

I'd be very disappointed if it was Blackwell. The pros about Warnock are his vast experience and his charisma/man management. It's his personality as much as anything else that's helped him have the success he has.

It's not like Arteta learning from Guardiola. No disrespect to Blackwell but Warnock's main strengths (IMO) are things you can't really teach. So I don't think looking for a "continuity" option is particularly viable in this case.

At last people seem to be coming round to the idea that there will be further squad overhaul and that it will be a very good thing.
Warnock will create his own squad over the next two windows and will have us challenging for the top 6.
If momentum drives us into those play offs who'd back against Warnock winning them - it's how he's done it before a number of times.

QPR in relegation danger, saved, then squad overhaul and promotion.
Cardiff in relegation danger, saved, then squad overhaul and promotion.

At other clubs:
Norwich lower midtable, overhaul, then promotion.
Sheff Utd, promotion, consolidation, overhaul, then promotion.

Only Leeds have done any sort of consolidation. With a huge wage bill and fantastic manager.

It doesn't have to take years of consolidation. Managers and squads are not around that long these days.

Be excited, because Warnock isn't coming to consolidate.
He will be picturing a full Riverside in May.

Woodgate is his No2

Beardsley is coming in as Head of Diversity

Gazza is coming in as Head of Hospitality

Ravenelli is coming back for some more hefty wages, he can still do a job for us.

When did he manage Norwich? Honestly can't remember.
