Did I imagine this? I seem to remember he had a blinder and at one point pretended to be smoking a cigar. Any idea when it was - or indeed if it happened at all??

He strolled through the game. It was a fantastic team performance with Alan Moore again hinting he was going to be a world beater.

I had a great day, despite having to walk what seemed like miles, all round the ground, having been dropped off by my Throstle supporting mate just the wrong side of a gate to the away end. My laughing in the car on the way back to Stoke made up for it though.

DViv only played in the divison one, dont think Robbo played away to Arsenal

It was New years day, 2-0 defeat. He also came on as a sub game before in defeat at Coventry as well

If I remember rightly they were 1-0 up at half time and Frank Skinner was in the pitch at half time giving us some grief.. we then ripped them apart n the second half, won 3-1 and gave Skinner dogs abuse!

Anderson hit the bar in that game if my memory serves me correct.

Alan Moore was about to be taken off, then turned on the style to win us the game.

I absolutely loved that season.

Love this, class is permanent.

I did turn up to see Boro play Thornaby in a pre-season friendly around 1999 and Viv played at the back, behind a midfield of…. Robbo and Gazza.

Imagine that midfield in 1990; imagine being a northern league player and seeing them two walk out. Gazza was pure class, gave all his boots / kit away to the Thornaby team, stuck around for ages after in the Thornaby dressing room having a laugh and was last seen having a B&H with his feet up on the wheel of his Land Rover in the car park
