The wife and I talking about going up to see The Kelpies and are just looking for any advice regarding where to stay, eat, etc?

We will be driving up.

Thanks in advance.

As above. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone and go to Falkirk wheel as well. Kelpies are great, don’t worry about parking to close. Pay for a canal boat ride on the wheel. Book in advance, I think it’s cheaper.
Whilst your up that way, have you visited the royal yacht in Edinburgh? It’s a great attraction. Even the kids enjoyed it.

I've stayed at the Premier Inn - that's very close by. More recently dropped by with Mrs V on our way back south from the Highlands. It was a sunny day so plenty of other tourists around but loads of parking. Well worth popping by, it's a beautiful piece of public art.

I stayed in Glasgow and made a long weekend out of it and went from there, did the Falkirk wheel the same day. The Kelpies are astonishing. I went early morning but I want to go back at night when they're illuminated from the inside, different colours every night.

Did you also stay in the Premier Inn?

Would you also recommend the Premier Inn?

The internal structural steel for them was made at the pipe mills in Hartlepool. Believe the steel came from Scunthorpe.

I had a weekend in Falkirk and did the Kelpies and the Falkirk wheel just before Xmas. Also took in the Forth bridges at Queensferry and half a day wandering around Edinburgh. Was hoping to get to Stirling but ran out of time. Also took in games at Edinburgh City, Hibernian and Livingston.

Well....it's a Premier Inn. They're all the same. Decent but characterless, so depends what you're looking for. They're never less than clean and with decent rooms.
Yeah, stayed in them before and they are what they are. I was thinking more for a few beers in the town, visiting the Kelpies and the Wheel.

Did you visit a restaurant whilst there?

Afraid not mate. Stayed at the Premier Inn for a job the next day so just had a bar meal. When I went with the missus we were in the motorhome so just ate in that before moving on. Sorry, not being much help here!

We've booked the Premier Inn for one night and should be able to visit both the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel from there.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. (y)
You'll love it. I don't know if it's true, never having been there on a windy day, but they're supposed to be designed so that when the wind whips through the holes in the structure they're musical.

The Inchyra Hotel in Polmont is pretty good. Too late I guess if you booked already...

Linlithgow Palace is an interesting place to go in that area.
