Villages/towns to stay outside Birmingham

Can anybody help I am looking for a place to stay for a night or two with the wife, we are travelling to the NEC so something close to the M42 but outside Birmingham any ideas?

Depends how far. Very close is Hampton in Arden and recommend the White Lion pub to stay at. Its 10 mins car ride to the NEC. Hampton Manor is a little bit of luxury.

I stayed at the forest in Arden a few times in the past. Nice place for a break and dead easy to get to the NEC
