If he has signed a 4 year contract, he will be on at least £50k per week (Sporar was on a very big contract with them two years ago). And why is that, pray tell?
Going to a top European club, playing in a league where he'll bag a hatful, warm, substantial pay rise, European football........
Good couple of seasons he'll get a move to a bigger club.
He wouldn't have cost £20m last summer.Glad we didnt splash £20M on him when we had the chance
He wouldn't have cost £20m last summer.
He would have got us up and be ready for PL.
So, great logic.
You could be right, but I'm sure that SL are not prepared to pay €24m for a player in the final year of his contract and one that's never played higher than the championship. If he has signed a 4 year contract, he will be on at least £50k per week (Sporar was on a very big contract with them two years ago).
His contract will be at least £10m. No way is that included within the number mentioned.
Could have been Weimann. He would have been a great signing, whether the club felt we had that kind of money to spend is another story. I think he would have cost close to that figure though, because Wilder did mention that he had been quoted 20 million for a striker in the division. Also he never stopped talking about his admiration for Gyokores and still speaks about him now so it’s almost certainly him. As let’s be honest, it couldn’t be about anyone else in the division.
Because 98% of them are pretty thick and don’t get it…This.
I’d much rather play for a top club in Portugal than slog it out with Everton. I’m not sure why more players don’t do it tbh, especially English players. The quality of life he’ll have over will be incredible.
I do, it's the chance to play in the PL.This.

Isn't it more the money?I do, it's the chance to play in the PL.
In purely sporting terms (no pun intended) then the PL is THE place to play, but if you're swayed by the lifestyle too, then the decision becomes more complicated.
For sure, the money comes into it too, but it's a fact that the EPL is the one with the biggest pull.Isn't it more the money?
I get there's an argument about wanting to test yourself against the best, but surely a thankless task if you're in a bottom 8 side. Highly unlikely to win anything and if you're a forward you're probably feeding off scraps.
Move to a top Italian side say and you have a better climate, more chance of winning stuff and get to play in European competition.
But of course won't get paid as much.
Transfermarkt.com have them paying 24m Euros for him on July 13th 2023 after his second and final stellar season at Cov and with a year left on his contract. You could be right, but I'm sure that SL are not prepared to pay €24m for a player in the final year of his contract and one that's never played higher than the championship.
I don’t think we were ever getting him, especially for £15m. We couldn’t afford the fee anyway.Transfermarkt.com have them paying 24m Euros for him on July 13th 2023 after his second and final stellar season at Cov and with a year left on his contract.
We would have got him for £15m a year earlier before that big season.
It's done now, but I thought he was brilliant then and is different class now. The bloke is fabulous.
I agree. Why he would have wanted to join us would have been beyond me given the squad we had. We would not have got the best out of him.I don’t think we were ever getting him, especially for £15m. We couldn’t afford the fee anyway.
He would have seen it as a sideways move at best. Our only hope would have been promotion.I agree. Why he would have wanted to join us would have been beyond me given the squad we had. We would not have got the best out of him.
Yes. Really good player. He would have seen it as a sideways move at best. Our only hope would have been promotion.
Great player though - absolute bargain for Coventry.
