The sale of Tav and Spence were pure profit, the amortisation of Gyokeres' fist year's fee was easily easily affordable.

The first person I can recall identifying him as an outstanding player was Neil Maddison in his radio commentary an early away fixture I think 2021-22 season. He scored that game and Maddo had been very impressed with him prior to him scoring.

I think everyone who saw him after that game realised he was an exceptional talent. It would have been great if we had signed him but we didn’t the following January.Mark Robins and the Coventry scouts and coaching staff deserve a lot of credit re his acquisition and development.

£15 million on a single player by a championship team without recent parachute payments probably meant he was an unrealistic and unattainable target then when we asked about him under Wilder.

I can recall Wider being shocked at the price we were apparently quoted at the time. It would appear no team in the premier league wanted to pay that fee in either transfer window last year.

As I say great player, would we have been promoted with him we will never know. Would Wilder have got the best out of him and what would have happened to Chuba?

Lot of imponderables as to how things would have worked out if we had signed him but clearly an outstanding player.

I really liked the look of him and gutted we didn't go for him. Aggresssive, determined and pragtmatic which got him goals whichever way he could manage them. Proper Striker for me.
