Very interesting read in Yorkshire Post

Illustrates clearly the imbalance between Champ. & Prem. Norwich in 4th place @ £70 million to Leeds in 3rd @ £212 million.

It's all a bit pie in the sky, isn't it. Chuba at this point last season was probably only worth a couple of million but one good season added on another £8m at least. Van den Berg could be another star in the making this season and clubs might want him at a similar price to Chyba. He's just one example.

Not sure if this is completely accurate but probably not far off, again shows the impact of Prem money.

Thanks, was looking for this the other day. Suggests a top half finish is a realistic objective this season (9/24) with overperformance probably being a playoff place.

The distortion of parachute payments is a significant going forward I think (and on the flip side, FFP). We're unable to compete in terms of prize money, but even if we somehow injected massive funds to rebuild the squad we'd fall foul of FFP?

It's a definite tightrope - I'm at least comfortable for the first time in a while that we have a strategy for how we will navigate that tightrope, rather than seemingly lurching from one approach to the next with no discernible approach.

I'd be surprised if those wage figures were accurate now, as Leeds, Southampton and to a lesser extent, Leicester have sold or loaned a fair number of players. Maybe it was based on the squads that finished last season. Even with parachute money, those relegated clubs could not afford those wage bills.
