Better than expected apart from Ganna who was a shoe-in. Doubt I'll be up there for long once the real racing starts.
 
Ganna was a difficult one really. I had him down for 2 stages maybe. In the end I swapped him out for Ulissi, who usually scores well on home turf. He picked up some bonus points in the TT so, hopefully, I made the right choice. I had Evenepoel and Foss earmarked for TT points. Both did OK really. Having similar choices to Pierre and Cardiffs is a good sign usually. Bardet was a real gamble given his form this year, but I'm hoping he comes good in the mountains and on the gravel. Gaviria was another gamble given his propensity for falling off. He seems to have lost his nerve in sprints but, if he is fitter now after his covid battles, he could score well. Rubio should get points in the hills for a cheap pick. Lafay is a young un with some promise. Likes to get into breakaways. Plus, he's friend with Mrs 259 on facebook :D . Sagan is a no brainer, ditto Yates. Should be a fun competition.
 
Probably a lot more 'ifs' than is normal for a grand tour which should make it interesting and unpredictable. Even the two clear favourites have question marks over them. I'll be happy as long as the racing is aggressive and not conservative.
 
Predictably, Gaviria managed to screw up yesterday. I hope he gets it right today. He looked to have good speed. A bit annoying that Merlier won as he was in my team until late on, and I've had him in my CQ game team for a couple of years.

Think todays stage will be too difficult for Gaviria. Hes not a great climber and I fear the winner will be able to get up the ramps
 
i decided against a pure sprinter and went for Sagan. He'll probably no longer win a flat sprint, but will always be there or thereabouts especially when the road is lumpy - plus he's going for the points jersey so will last the course, hopefully.
 
Well after yesterday’s stahe and a massive shake up of GC which will change again an update and things are a lot closer. MCW still leads. If anybody could pick any of the first 10 on yesterday’s stage would have been a surprise.

One question. Now I follow the cycling on Eurosport-GCN etc and and watch a lot of races so I’m almost embarrassed to ask.....Who TF is Remco Evnepoel?
 
New Belgium star. Came through last season by winning a string of races early season but during the Lombardia he crashed badly and put him out for a year. This is his first major race back. Tipped to be the new Eddy Mercx.

I remember that and everyone thinking how the hell did he manage that! It’s similar to when Anameek Van Vlueten crashed at the Olympics and remained motionless for ages.😳
 
I am not sure I will have the legs to hold onto the lead, especially after losing Landa 😭 Shame for him as he seemed to be looking good!
