It depends on the outcome of the decision if it goes for or against us…

Seriously though, I’m generally against it but it’s like Pandora’s box has been opened now…

You don't even need to look to before and after.

Whilst there was VAR in the Premier League and all the associated controversy that came with it, there was a constant clamour for it to be introduced in the Scottish Premiership to correct frequent refereeing errors, from fans and managers.

Now they're all complaining about VAR instead.

people just have to have something to complain about and project failures on 🤷‍♂️

The European Space Agency's Gaia mission involving UCL researchers has discovered the most massive black hole in our galaxy to date that formed from an exploding star. The black hole, known as Gaia BH3, is 33 times the mass of our Sun and located relatively close to Earth at 2,000 light years away.

This is somewhat opportune as it is the ideal place to put VAR. Though we would need to set it on fire and stab it a few times first.

Just when we think VAR has gotten better we get a game like Everton v Forest where it takes us back to the point of discussion. The problem is for me at least that all sports which have instant replay have the same issue and that is arbitrary fouls cannot be ruled fairly for or against and therefore VAR or a replay ref will never solve the issue with the arbitrary foul.

The other problem is players and coaches know how to con the referee and therefore we also have a multitude of techniques used to either con the ref or con the replay booth.

The bottom line is here is money and how it affects the team and the ethical aspect of the game. Each team over the years will always argue they’ve been done by a bad refereeing decision and no amount of technology in my opinion will lead us to where those same errors can be 100 percent eradicated. So we always have a problem with outcomes of games which could decide who wins or loses or maybe who wins the championship or who gets relegated.

Let’s not forget we won our one and only silverware on an illegal penalty kick scored by Bolo Zenden. Did we argue about the outcome — no we laughed about it but on the way back from Cardiff that day I can honestly say I felt as though we hadn’t won the game fairly. Swings and roundabouts — that’s life for many of us and sadly we can profit from cheating, or maybe abusing the system.

I’m pro VAR but it needs to be used in a better format I believe.

Timed decisions
Benefit of the doubt to the attacker (see covs 4th)

These two alone will surely aid VAR.

The three in the forest and Everton game were criminal, i understand why they are so upset even if they’ve thrown the toys out of the pram.

I'm relatively pro VAR - mostly because I think the way people complain about it ringing the game is amusing.

It's interesting because I'm a big NBA fan and the fans there also complain about their review system - but because its a single league they keep changing it every year to try and improve it.

Currently their refs can choose to review for foul play.

Each team also has one challenge - if the original decision is overturned then they can have a second challenge.

I'd like to see that.

And I would like the on pitch ref to always be involved.

Offside is difficult - genuinely don't know the answer - I think it makes sense to use it.. the Festa offside in the 97 FA cup final makes me long for correct decisions.

But we would have arguably been knocked out by Chesterfield if VAR was in place. That was a travesty in hindsight...
