Didn’t realise at the time but the onfield decision was to disallow the goal
The keeper pushed Silva away, should there be a penna check?
Silva didn't interfere () with the keeper right from when the corner was kicked, eventually ducked down to give the keeper a clear sight. Bad defending, good header.
Perfectly good goal imo.
He doesn't have to be in his eyeline at that time - just gained an advantage/effected the keeper from the shot.I didn't mean he was offside then but surely he's interfering in the keepers thought process being offside from the header in such a short time after backing into him.
Take that law literally and you are never scoring from a corner as it wil either be a free kick to the defensive team or a penalty every timeSilva backed into the keeper with the ball not in a playable position. It's a foul. No question.
"Impeding the progress of an opponent means moving into the opponent’s path to obstruct, block, slow down or force a change of direction when the ball is not within playing distance of either player."
Blocking runners intentionally is increasingly a thing.Take that law literally and you are never scoring from a corner as it wil either be a free kick to the defensive team or a penalty every time
If you watch the play build, Silva backs into the keeper before the corner was taken. Just before the ball was kicked, the keeper pushed Silva who was then out of the keepers line of sight and then ducked down - giving the keeper a clear view of Stones' header flying past him.Silva makes contact with the keeper first blocking him off
How? Plenty of corners are scored without anyone being impeded.Take that law literally and you are never scoring from a corner as it wil either be a free kick to the defensive team or a penalty every time
He was nowhere near the keepers eye line. Correct decision it’s never offsideHahahahahahaaa
Sorry. didn't mean to laugh at poor old Gary.
Can't believe the goal was given. Keeper clearly obstructed whilst Silva is in an offside position.
He wasn’t offside at that stage and it’s nowhere near enough to warrant giving a foulWhy did they not show the nudge on the keeper to the ref? Of course he has an impact he backs into the keeper. Crazy
If Silva didn't think his actions would affect the keeper, why would he risk having a goal ruled out?If you watch the play build, Silva backs into the keeper before the corner was taken. Just before the ball was kicked, the keeper pushed Silva who was then out of the keepers line of sight and then ducked down - giving the keeper a clear view of Stones' header flying past him.
Wouldn't have mattered if Silva was stood 50 yards away, keeper wasn't saving that.
Bad defending, bad concentration.
I think my original post is a slight cause of confusion. I was too busy trying to get the pun in the title correct - I've edited it to make everyone else in the thread look like idiotsHe was nowhere near the keepers eye line. Correct decision it’s never offside
Football is riddled with sh*thousery, Silva has got away with itIf Silva didn't think his actions would affect the keeper, why would he risk having a goal ruled out?

From someone who's probably never played football in his life. The keeper was definitely impeded.
Silva backed into him and then span away. His actions affected the keeper and prevented him having more time to set himself.
For me it's a foul on the keeper in the build-up to the goal. The offside positioning is less relevant but if he wasn't in that position then he wouldn't have been close enough to impede in the first place. He is offside when the ball comes back in and has used that position to impede the keeper.
Goal should have been disallowed, in my opinion, but it was hilarious that it wasn't - especially after sending the ref to the screen.
The corner hadn't been taken when he backed in......so, should the ref have blown and had a word with Silva, told him to pack it in?I don’t have a problem with Silva position after Stones heads the ball but Silva does back into the keeper why the ball is no were near them which could be obstruction.

Silva as already foul the keeper by backing into him. If Sa falls over instead of pushing Silva its a foul on the keeper all day. That's when the keeper pushed him - penna!
Had a game of spot the ball there too.
