It sounds like this Indian restaurant is worth a visit, anyone been?

Gazette Report: - A popular Indian restaurant in Teesside has scooped one of the top spots in the National Curry Awards.

Vadah, in Stockton, has been named Restaurant of the Year for the North-east. It's the second time it has been praised this year having won Best Asian Restaurant at the Asian Restaurant Awards in July. The eatery was also named North-east Restaurant of the Year at the National Curry Awards in 2019 and "the Most Outstanding Restaurant of the Year" in 2021.

The food there is class, love it.

However as zoophonic has said, it's a puff piece paid-for award same as the Teesside airport one. They're not scouring restaurants and judging the best, places apply, pay, go to awards ceremony and then reap the PR.

In fact looking at their website the front page welcomes you to the inaugural event despite the fact that there several years of winners listed

And looking at the winners page there are several "winners" in each category l, it almost looks like there's regional ones but not ones from every region there

What happened to the one on the road to Darlo next to the petrol station. It used to be called Akbars but nothing to do with the chai of the same name. Food was great but noticed it looked closed last time I came past.

They got caught with a load of illegal immigrants working in the kitchen. One of them tried to hide in the restaurant as a customer but had curry stains all over his chef whites.

Used to be my favourite that one.

To be fair I often used to visit in my dirty chefs whites, so it's hardly conclusive and damning proof 🤷‍♂️
