US Presidents.

It always happens in small countries. ;)

Being serious, I would say SmallTown touches on the US being such a powerhouse that the president is mentioned on UK TV nearly every day. The difference with the Chinese leaders is that our media portrays them as the bad guys.
I think it’s also to do with the Anglosphere.

George W Bush was the first that came to mind for me,

Also very true that I probably have more knowledge of past American presidents than I do of UK Prime Ministers. I'd struggle with any quiz question that required any knowledge of UK Prime Ministers before the year I was born. Where as I could name quite a few US Presidents.

This is probably partly to do with US Presidents appearing in a lot more films than UK Prime Ministers do. And also probably because they do come up in pb quizzes and quiz shows so you start to retain that knowledge.

American presidents are better as quizshow answers as most of the British ones are stuff like lord woof of woofington whereas the Americans all have memorable names like Grover Cleveland and Montgomery J Winklepepper and Hopscotch McGee.

One of the things that saddens me greatly is that I was not alive when we had Andrew Bonar Law as prime minister, who must be the rudest named PM in history. Imagine the fun! Still at least I avoided 2 world wars and the Spanish flu.
