I alsways thought it was posh rather than clever? Didn't he go to private school? famously played rugby more than football

Think the fact he has A-levels, got offered a football scholarship to Harvard and plays the cello meant people claimed he was clever. His A level results (whilst slightly better than mine), aren't that amazing especially when you consider the cost of his education).

I remember Jimmy Phillips saying of Boro fans 'Away from home they're very vociferous' in an interview on the Marching On Together video - think it's the first time I'd ever heard the word vociferous and based on that I assumed he must have been a bright type 🙂
 
Jimmy Phillips wrote a " get well soon " card to my mam when she was in hospital.
I wrote to him as a kid and asked him to.
I've still to this day no idea why she had a crush on him.
