Unreasonable?

For those who said it wouldn’t happen when the Tories forced through their crime bill, I’ve just been watching London news showing Extinction Rebellion activists being arrested because blocking the road was “Unreasonable“!! Bang goes future Trafalgar Square parties!

Yesterday over 3000 motor bikes descended on London on a peaceful rally against the treatment of British Forces in Ireland, not a sausage on the BBC and all went home without a problem, in fact some had police escorts. X Rebellion just made asses of themselves which obviously the powers that be take offence to.

In what way did they make asses of themselves, Nr? Genuine question btw, I've no idea what went off.

That's the irony Norfolk- demonstrations are only reported if there is trouble.
I remember during Blairs years a demonstration took place in london ( I can't remember what about) but it got violent and was across national news that day. (a Saturday) At the same time over a million pensioners marched through London protesting against the low level of the state pension without incident and I didn't even know until the Monday.

Very true Trug. The ride was organised thoroughly with riders coming from all over the Country with RV points along the way. The police and the press knew about and knew what to expect. No trouble no coverage. However the Countries future generations think than damage is the answer and cry when it it all goes wrong.

The people were arrested for sitting in the road. Shall we just. Start clapping politely at matches?
Out of interest…how much was your “Poll Tax” this year?

Obstructing the public highway 1980. I was arrested for it in 1980 when we played the Mancs and so was King Arthur Scargill, it's no biggy. There are 2 things certain in life. 1 TAX and 2, Death and you wont escape them so why kick off about it.

Obviously you can or we’d be paying “Poll Tax”!
I suppose if we all took that attitude we wouldn’t have to teach about those pesky Tolpuddle Martyrs in history lessons and everyone can doff their caps respectfully as should be.

We pay TAX on all we consume, so there is no escape. These prats go around complaining about TAX etc by wrecking private and public property and wonder why the general public give them no support. I bet they are the first whinge whey they don't receive the giro's every week though, paid by erm let me think...

Interesting that an event where the objectives / purpose broadly aligns with the interests of the establishment went off without a hitch and was policed in a friendly, even collaborative, way. Whereas an event in which the attendees are calling out the establishment and demanding that more focus is placed on environmental matters, rather than pure capitalism, resulted in arrests and negative media coverage....

Why could that be I wonder ? I'm sure no agent provocateurs were involved in the XR demonstrations too as we know the police and security services play straight down the line....

As I said - completely pointless.
The media did not and would not cover it due to it not being in the public interest due to ongoing persecution of Service personal in Ireland. Now it they ran riot around the Capital, which they could have but are adult enough to desist in childish games, spraying everywhere then they may just get the coverage. This was not for coverage it was for solidarity, just like the Gurkhas who have been on hunger strike close to No 10. Obviously not good press so hardly covered. Regardless of being completely pointless more rallies are being planned.

Most protests are completely pointless but good on people taking their time to take part. The XR demonstrations will look like small beer in years to come as climate change becomes a major policy priority and we wonder why more wasn't done sooner.
