Funny to think he's one of the best players to ever wear a Sunderland shirt and we've probably had 20 odd midfielders better than him in a Boro shirt in the Riverside era.

Didn't do a bad job for us but his time here will always be overshadowed by the fact that it ran parallel with the club going from European finalists to Championship garbage. Not his fault but it was a miserable time to be a Boro fan.

probably more of a legend at Sunderland, despite playing less games. Good pro for us though, he did well initially when he switched to centre mid, but he lost what little pace he had and struggled later in his time with us.
