Doing a cracking job at South Shields, they’re playing much better stuff then when Phillips was manager. Nicer bloke too.

He wasn’t a “legend” here, but was a good player till he knacked his toe.
 
Funny to think he's one of the best players to ever wear a Sunderland shirt and we've probably had 20 odd midfielders better than him in a Boro shirt in the Riverside era.

Didn't do a bad job for us but his time here will always be overshadowed by the fact that it ran parallel with the club going from European finalists to Championship garbage. Not his fault but it was a miserable time to be a Boro fan.

Spot on, he symbolizes a period when the club had a fall from grace

But he was a model professional, decent player
