UBER in the Boro

Apparently this weekend is a trial weekend to see how it goes. We hired two last night, both came within minutes and undercut the Mafia by at least £3. Personally I'm all for it and I hope the mafia can do nothing about it even though they are whinging about drivers coming from other areas, hypocrites or what.

I was checking it out for a visit in a few weeks. How does the regular price compare with Boro Taxis, who seem pretty cheap anyway?

I tried to order a taxi, 2 miles across Stockton to thornaby station last week... Uber wanted £25, generously reduced to £17.60 .... £6.10 for Boro cars. FWIW, this was about midday on a weekday.

Uber aren’t perfect but worth mentioning they get employment benefits and also have a specialised union they can join.

Easy to argue their T&Cs are better than local companies.

It doesn't feel like 2-3 years ago that we used to pay Boro about £8 to the town. Its now around £13-14.
That's called inflation, I know the owners of Boro Taxis were at one time big supporters of Simon Clarke and other Tories, but you can't blame Boro for the cost of living crisis and or inflation.

They were here last weekend with 80% off.. Got an Uber to a party in the town and back for less than £5 return
