U turn on ticket office closures

Turns out writing letters, signing petitions, submitting responses to public consultations and sharing the means to do so to a wide audience, can actually have a big impact sometimes!
Power to the people!

Well done to the various charities and the likes of Mick Lynch for publicising this and empowering people to get organised and be heard!
‘But what’s the point? What can I do on my own?……Said 7 billion people….’

I mean to be honest who gives a ****. Are they going to let people sleep in them to resolve the homelessness crisis?

I’m sure plenty of disabled, elderly, vulnerable, blind people etc who rely on the railway network to give them some degree of independence give a ****.
Just because you are fortunate enough that it doesn’t impact you directly, that doesn’t mean everyone else needn’t ‘give a ****’.

Its strange how the rail companies and Government will spend hundred of millions on ramps and wider carriages for wheelchairs, but happily close the ticket offices that help serve the whole disabled community and probably save a £1m a year. To me there is no logic, its almost as though those in power can't connect disability with ticket offices, dispite the annual equalities training they are supposed to have completed.

I heard a statement that only 12% of tickets are bought in ticket offices to justfy the complete closures. Its a bit like saying lets ignore everyone with a disability because they are only 10% of the population for any goods and services provided in this country.

Rishi pretending he’s listening on the day Cummings throws him under the covid bus. We’ll see lots of stuff like this between now and the election.

Rail ticket office closures in England scrapped FOR THE TIME BEING in government U-turn.

This shower of a government are for sure working out how they can achieve this with the minimum amount of fuss and public oversight in order to satisfy their benefactors ans stakeholders.

In fact I am only surprised the Tory party hasnt listed itself on the stock exchange. "The Tory Party, providing fantastic shareholder returns for over 100 years"
