Tyrone Mings’ elbow

Accidental? If I have a look to see where someone is and then elbow them in the chops… how is that accidental?
Doesn’t mean it wasn’t accidental that he looked to see where he was, he could have looked at him just because you know, they’re playing football and you need to do that, then accidentally elbowed him.
Haven’t seen the incident so don’t have an opinion myself, but it’s always too easy to say things like “he had a look first”, when most of the times that’s not even the case.

He did look to see where Scott was though, and then he raised his elbow into his face. It was clear as day imo. His elbow did not need to be that high.

One of those ones where the pundits have to skirt around saying what actually happened while watching a replay of it because they can’t come out and say it.

I think the only times I’ve ever heard an elbow called out in 34 years of watching football is Ben Thatcher, Tab Ramos and John Uzzell. The rest were apparently all accidental.

Of course he didn’t mean to elbow him man.

He flung his arm up in a desperate attempt to hold him off after making a mess of it. Unfortunately, he also made a mess of that and clocked the lad. It was clearly dangerous and, as a result, a red card.

I remember John Fashanu wrecking Gary Mabbutt's face with his elbow in the 90s.
Fashanu was Public Enemy No.1 for a while. And then again years later when he basically admitted he did it on purpose to maintain the Crazy Gang's intimidating image.

Was just going to post the same thing. Who’s this referee? He keeps buying defenders going down looking for fouls. It’s infuriating.
He'd be the perfect referee for Boro then.

Paddy McNair gets a small royalty payment every time someone does it.

I don't think he meant it tbh.

If it wasn’t Tyrone Mings, who had previous for dirty behaviour, I'd have 100% thought it was an unfortunate accident between a tall player and a short player.
Didn't him looking to see where Scott was then extending his pointed elbow straight into his jaw not sway you at all no?

And Jackson gets sent off for this against Newcastle today after VAR looked at it. No wonder the players get annoyed just no consistency

He looked at him then panicked as he was going to get dispossessed so he flung his arm out to hold him off and made a mess of it.

No chance did he deliberately elbow him but it definitely should have been a red card.
