Middlesbrough fans who are able to are asked to support two important charitable causes being led by supporter groups on Saturday, before and after the Millwall game.

With just over a week to go before Christmas, Boro fans are being asked to give generously to help their fellow Teessiders, as the Millwall game is the latest that will see the Middlesbrough Supporters Forum collecting food and money donations for The Middlesbrough Foodbank.

On top of that collection, supporters’ group The Red Faction, well-known for the unique atmosphere they bring to the Riverside on match-days, are hosting an event after the game at The Intrepid Explorer which will raise money for two mental health charities - Andy’s Man Club and Teesside Mind.

The Foodbank collection will, as usual, be situated outside the North Stand ticket office from noon until kick-off 3pm, with fans urged to help if they can. The Foodbank, who provide support for many families across Teesside, are looking for dry and non-perishable food items. Card and cash payments are also gratefully accepted, while £5 donations can also be made by texting MSF to 70560.

The Red Faction’s event at The Intrepid Explorer, meanwhile, starts after the game for their Christmas charity event that includes four live bands, raffles and blind cards, with all money raised being split between mental health charities Andy’s Man Club and Teesside Mind.

Tickets for the event, costing £6, can be purchased by messaging the group on social media, using the Eventbrite ticket site or from behind the bar at The Intrepid Explorer. Red Faction have also said that if anyone can’t make the event but would still like to donate, they can do so by purchasing a ticket to the event as a form of donation.

Also - on Saturday before the game Middlesbrough Football Club and MFC Foundation are starting their association with the new Multibank

The club has partnered with the charity for the initiative, which is designed to raise awareness and respond to the rising issues of hygiene poverty among young people in the UK.

The aim is to ensure people approach 2025 equipped with the tools, assurance and confidence they need to maximise opportunity and potential in school.

At our game against Millwall on 14 December, we will facilitate a matchday fan donation drive at the Riverside, encouraging fans to gift essential hygiene products on entry to the ground, in support of Middlesbrough-based The Junction Multibank.

Partnering with The Junction Multibank enables Boro supporters to play an active role in getting essential hygiene items into the hands of those most in need this winter period.

Gifted products will support the build of essential hygiene packs, to be distributed via The Junction Multibank’s place-based network of charities, social workers, health professionals and teachers, servicing Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Darlington and more.

These items include soap, shampoo, shower gel, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, provided they are sealed and within expiration date. They can be gifted at manned Multibank donation banks positioned around the stadium before kick-off.

So, lots of Boro charity today - MFC are teaming up with the new Multibank and are asking fans to bring along new hygiene products - look out for staff collecting outside the North and West Stands.
There will be an important festive collection for Middlesbrough Food Bank by MIddlesbrough Supporters Forum and MFC outside the North Stand ticket office.
