Can you show me where I said that? Are you saying the people who work in wetherspoons are too stupid to take a better job in a pub elsewhere?

Your local is probably freehold and therefore free of tie. It can buy its stock from anywhere. A Greene King tenancy or leasehold will be tied to GK products at an extortionate markup. JDW is GK's biggest customer by far and can buy GK products at a huge discountBut that tax is the same for all pubs, yet prices differ when the same supplier is used, and I'm not talking about the big players here.
My local is selling beer for a profit at around £3 a pint. It's slightly more expensive than JDs but way cheaper than the local Greene King pub. It's an independent, no pulling power, so why?
You beat me too it. I did some research on Indeed and the vast majority all had good things to say and the those who had bad things to say, the reasons they used they would find in a multitude of pubs/bars/restaurants. The ones that were complaining about a lack of a normal social life made me chuckle, what did they expect, you are working to provide a service to people who are socialising at generally popular socialising times of the dayJ D Wetherspoon PLC salaries: How much does J D Wetherspoon PLC pay in the United Kingdom? | Indeed.com

Some comments on the job at spoons. Doesn't seem the worst place to work given the reviews.
Lots of reasons - if a proper independent and not contracted to brewery it can buy its beer from anywhere. But that tax is the same for all pubs, yet prices differ when the same supplier is used, and I'm not talking about the big players here.

I would be surprised if many posters on this thread actually know someone who has worked there.
Everyone I know who has worked in one hasn’t had a bad thing to say about the job. Many have been there for years, working their way up.
For overheads I tend to read shareholders raking a profit. Unearned income for me.Lots of reasons - if a proper independent and not contracted to brewery it can buy its beer from anywhere.
It may have a lot smaller overheads.
I would love to see them shut. Someone else will take their place, Yates for example, not that I go there either. That's fair enough. That's all people had to say, because of brexit. Not hijack a thread about the prices variations in different establishments around the country and have those who frequent Wetherspoons personally attacked from a place of out right snobbery.
But do you want all those places shut too? No meeting places for the lonely? No cheap meals out for a family as a treat who work every hour of the day to make ends meet? What about those who work there and, whisper it, enjoy working there? Stick them on UC?
The only surprise is the fact that he's allowed to carry on posting. As for Little Tory, why is anyone surprised by his behavior - he did it loads of times on COB and he's just moved his snobby tory, anti brexit, better than you, you wouldn't understand my lifestyle act across here?
For the same reason ST used I assume yes?I would love to see them shut. Someone else will take their place, Yates for example, not that I go there either.
I'd like to see the vile owner bankrupted. For the same reason ST used I assume yes?
And 1000's of people made redundant?I'd like to see the vile owner bankrupted.
That's a non-sequitur. Undoubtedly, they would be taken over. And 1000's of people made redundant?
How many chinese made products do you have in your home?I'd like to see the vile owner bankrupted.
Whataboutwhataboutwhatabout..... ad nauseam. How many chinese made products do you have in your home?
As I say, I do agree with little tory on his criticism of JDW to a degree, however I choose not to go into the pubs as I'm not a fan of his politics nor the actual pubs, nor am I restricted by price and so cheap beer doesn't appeal, but to label a large section of their customer base in such a way is ridiculous and typical of him.Imagine “boycotting” places because you think the owner is a bit of a pillock and is always talking crap in the daily Mail
Do you know who owns all the pubs you go in and shops you spend money in? Or is it just JDW.
