Trump hush money sentencing on 26th Nov

Do you think it will take place now? Will he be given a meaningless sentence like community service? Will he even bother to turn up?

There’s a hearing before the same New York court on November 12 to rule on the retrospective implications of the subsequent SCOTUS decision on partial presidential immunity. I suspect it goes away then. The sentencing hearing won’t happen. Probably wouldn’t have done even if he lost, but his victory takes any last doubt away from me.

But the hush money crimes were done before he was president so immunity surely cannot apply. Even in their backwards country.

“If Donald Trump wins back the presidency, he would once again have broad pardon power — but that federal authority would not overturn his state conviction in the New York hush money trial”
So on these, no.

Hearing that the DoJ is looking at winding down the other outstanding cases against him as there is no time to bring them before he becomes president and they adhere to the policy of not prosecuting sitting presidents.

What a country, and I emphasise the first syllable.

They cannot prosecute a sitting president - they failed to action prosecution and railroad it through as soon as Biden was elected.
This is the penalty they pay for their tardiness - they can't blame anyone else.
Trump is a master at using the courts to stifle any action taken against him - someone called it aptly I think...Lawfare
