True evil is amongst us

Read the story just now on Sky News. More heads need to roll for this horrible crime. These safeguarding agencies need disbanding and built back again from the ground up. 5 referrals and still this completely innocent little girl is killed.

I hope those who didn't act on the referrals feel guilt for the rest of their lives.

FIVE referals including their babysitter.

I hope the social workers who missed this can sleep at night, and that's not a criticism.
It's a thankless soul destroying job only a few can do and as someone said on the thread taken down, there is always a balance to be struck between putting a child into care and leaving them with their families.

I hope those two utterly vile creatures get exactly what they deserve inside.

Who is accountable though? Heads won't roll.

It's not an appropriate thread for inane posts more like. If you want to make a counter-argument, make it.
Here is a counter argument. How would you feel if you were on the gurney, about to have a needle inserted into your arm that would end your life, yet you were innocent of the crime that is going to get you killed?

You can imagine how that would feel. Which is why I would only support the death penalty being in place at a judge's discretion for severe crimes where there is no reasonable doubt as to the perpetrator's guilt.

I get that mistakes can and have happened. I'd argue less so with DNA/CCTV and modern methods.

I'd also say it's clear these two are guilty. I don't see how it can be a 'mistake'. They have killed a defenseless child. I'm not overly for the death penalty but some crimes will always make you think about it.

These two will get released. That clearly isn't 'justice served'. The very least lock them up for life.

I'm not sure what the argument is here, given that Sally Clark wasn't subject to any death penalty. I've already stated I don't support it in any cases where there could be a doubt, and I would only be in favour at a judge's discretion, not a blanket statutory punishment. Her conviction was overturned on appeal as well.
