Trial Road Closure Acklam/Tollesby

As mentioned earlier, the problem of speeding cars will now be transferred to Hall Drive and Tollesby Road which probably suffers more speeding drivers than St Marys Walk. I often wondered about speed cameras but this would not make enough money for the powers that be unless they are movable. I now think that the speed camera van will be sited nearly full time at Acklam Hall where all the new speeding traffic will flow through.

Did anybody on Hall Drive or associated roads get a letter and what if more than 80 people complained, would they shut Hall Drive and Tollesby Road?

I dont know who got the letters but 264 letters were sent out to residents.

160 responded and the split between closing the road or doing nothing was exactly 80 each. The council decided to close it because the response from people most directly affected was 81% to 79%

I find that very hard to believe, that out of the 160 letters that responded it was split exactly 50-50 for the road closure. All that has happened here, is the people on the estate who did respond with the closure, obviously think it will increase the price of their houses and make it a more desirable area.

From the response letter sent out to residents.

"I am writing to inform you of the results of the public consultation exercise, which is now complete. In total, 264 residents were consulted and 160 responses received, giving a 61% response rate. This is a good rate for similar schemes that the Council regularly undertakes as its core business within Transport related projects.

Overall, there was a 50/50 split in terms of ‘Option 1 – Road Closure’ and ‘Option 2 – Do Nothing’, with 80 responses received for each. However, there was a clear majority in favour of the experimental road closure from the residents most directly affected on Church Lane and St. Mary’s Walk, with 81% and 79% respectively in favour."
