Travelling by Train Through Europe

You can only use it to leave the country.
Eurostar fine but you can’t travel to London on it
You do get one 'outbound' and one 'inbound' day in your country, so you could travel to London on the train and then get the Eurostar on the same day, but you can't stop overnight in London as then the Eurostar would be on the second day.

In fact if you're coming from the North East it can be beneficial to pay the extra for the first class pass if it's not prohibitive. You get first class travel to London (including food on the LNER) and then can book the Eurostar for (I think still) £38 supplement each way which gets you into Standard Premier, rather than £30 for standard class with the 2nd class pass.

I like the idea of first class (who doesn’t?) but couldn’t find it in the 25% off option?

Yes. That is it. There are a lot of tunnels being dug. Plus bridges being built. Also the plans for the tunnel into the centre of Almería have been agreed now.

San José and the nearby Cabo de Gata area are really quite pretty. Was this your first visit?
No. We've been a few times. We love it there. If only we could move there. Beautiful.

Avoid Germany at the moment. It's a shîtshow. I've just been through on the way to Copenhagen. Four hours late and multiple reroutings from Brussels to Münster, then the train from Münster was also late. Fortunately the train before was so late I managed to change the reservation to catch it instead.

There was a strike earlier in the week so you may have got caught in that. Otherwise, I find that when travelling any distance in Germany it's best not to overstretch yourself as something is always likely to go wrong, particularly if you have to go through the Cologne-Düsseldorf bottleneck. If I'm travelling a distance I usually set off two hours before I would need to if everything runs on time and if it does then that's a bonus. I always have a plan C and usually D as well.

Deutsche Bahn do pay out though on delays, worth getting a form from the station if you've paid a decent sum for your ticket. Got €130 back for one journey last year which made it slightly less frustrating 👍

Main station in Milan really is a sight to behold. I’ve never been to New York.
Anyone been to both and can tell me which is best?

I stayed in a hotel round the corner from the station in Milan and the area was proper rough at night! 😂

Lovely station when I caught my early morning train though
