Total fitness pool Middlesbrough

I'm into swimming and for a long while now I've frequented the activ8 pools in the area but it's so frustrating when you have so many people and also so few doing appropriate speeds for the lanes they've chosen.

I know total fitness has a decent pool but would anyone have any experience with how busy it is generally?

Don't want to spend the money if it's no better.

It's a bit hit and miss.It can be busy at a particular time and quiet at the same time the following week. It's just pot luck I'm afraid!

When I used to work in Boro I used to use the Thornaby pool at lunchtime. It was just a simple 25m pool with four lanes no slides or diving pool or wave generator. I could usually get a lane with someone roughly my pace or use the non laned bit. Worth a try perhaps

Was a member of David Lloyd's when I lived on Teesside & there pool area was the best in the area, especially with having the outdoor pool area in the Summer, for the rare Sunny Evenings & Weekends on Teesside. Obviously don't know your budget as it was also the most expensive, I think I used to pay around 50-60 GBP/month back then in 2008 without the Tennis access, could be running at around 100 these days.
Having said that I joined the Antwerp one one around 2 years ago when I was working there & that was still less than a ton maybe 75 Euros/month so DL on Teesside maybe less than my estimate, They also used to do 3 monthly passes at a higher rate than the annual membership where you could always sack it off if you felt you weren't getting your moneys worth

I usually go in the morning or afternoon but not at night. I seldom see it busy and they usually have half the lanes roped for the speedsters and the rest open to everyone but you can use the app to book a lane.

I was a member at DL for may years but jacked it off when they ‘upgraded’ it about 3 to 4 years ago and hiked the prices, at the same time I started spending 4 months plus a year abroad. Indoor pool got busy with kids at just after school time but wasn’t bad outside of that, the outdoor pool was generally ok to swim in but they shut it ‘out of hours’. One of the great benefits was being able to use any DL which was great for me travelling with work.
