Tories pressured BBC over Johnson's claim Starmer failed to prosecute Jimmy Savile - Guardian article

I can only speak for myself. I think he keeps his beliefs to himself and toes a line to win an election. Whilst getting the tories out of no 10 is important, I would rather starmer trusted the electorate, was clear in his beliefs and offering.

I have no doubt he will be a very good administrator, his career to date highlights that he has a great attention to detail and can run a team dealing with complex issues.

He will be a good leader, but my issue is where is he leading us.
I often he he lacks charisma, but I'm not sure that being charismatic should be the top of voters list when it comes to a potential PM, if at all.

I think he, and the party, are in a difficult balancing act between the traditional (harder) left and winning votes from the (softer) right.

I don't care about charisma. I am more concerned that we don't really know what starmer stands for. Until we see the manifesto, we don't really know what we will be getting.

My vote is probably going to be tactical. For however much I am ambivelant towards starmer, I know we need to get rid of the tories. Probably a libdem vote in my area, mad nads is our current mp.

Mid Bedfordshire? Where labour have been consistently the strongest challenger to the Tories (excluding 2005 and 2010) ?

I'm not a Starmer fan, and the way he has "managed" the Labour party has been p*ss poor IMO. Broken every one of his leadership pledges, with a "meh" response.

But, he cannot be worse than the Tories who are only interested in filling their pockets with public money, and treat the electorate with absolute disdain.

British politics is in the sewer, can Starmer and Labour bring trust and respect back? Not sure. But things can't go on as they are and come 2025 I hope the Tories have been obliterated. But the UK suddenly moving forward with honesty and integrity 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Only hope is Starmer is playing a game and if elected we see a different approach. But I'm not holding my breath.

It doesn't matter that Labour have come second. It's more to do with where swing voters who have had enough of the tories will place their vote.

Not many of those swing voters will convert to labour I don't think.

It's unbelievable isn't it? They need help!

🤔

If you don’t like the contents of a thread don’t open it. I’ve read that many times on here

The discussion is mainly about the media why not try reading it rather than acting like someone who wants to constantly stop debate. You’re kind of giving the impression Labour can’t be spoken about, ever

And Starmer said lefties like me can leave through the door so. Fine he doesn’t need my vote 🤷🏻‍♂️

What does that even mean?

I will wait until there’s a new left wing party and vote green in the meantime
I would take it to mean that, given our electoral system, any vote given to a party other than the party most likely to beat the Tories in your constituency may as well be handing them your vote.

I hate it too. It's ridiculous... But it doesn't make it any less true.

Well then it was a stupid suggestion by Starmer to conflate anti-semitism with Corbynism/socialism and secondly basically say that there’s no place for left wing politics now in Labour and to go and vote elsewhere

I don’t know why I am criticised for something Starmer clearly wants to happen 🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree. I'm still mad about it all, and I can't stand what the labour party is right now.

However, there is only one thing I can't stand more than that, and that's another Tory term.

How would I know what the contents are without opening it?

I opened it because I hoped there'd be widespread condemnation of The Tory Party for trying to influence the news agenda. Whether it be this particular topic, or Rwanda, or Lockdown.

But no, it quickly gets taken over by posters like you who must wake up every day thinking 'what can I criticise Starmer about today?' because there's absolutely nothing else in my universe.

I didn’t even plan to reply to this thread

Ultimately it is about media control and touches on Labour

Borofur I didn’t wake up planning to reply nor did Starmer enter my head but my god are you obsessed with silencing any mention of labour of Starmer or Labour

I’m not voting Labour but my god you’re absolutely frightening if you represent the modern day Labour Party 😬

And what’s most concerning is I want to follow developments as they happen to understand the outcomes. So again if you have nothing to add which you don’t then go away because you’re an absolute non entity
