As Labour have put forward a motion to extend the £20 to help those that are struggling beyond March.

how can people vote for these heartless cretins

They are absolutely pathetic. It will be interesting to see if any Tory MPs develop a backbone and vote with Labour.

dispicable really. What is 20 quid these days. As you said heartless.

However with all those abstensions I presume it will get passed

At the beginning of December during an exhange at PMQ, Boris Johnson attacked Keir Starmer for whipping Labour MPs to abstain in a vote on the government's new Covid tier system, saying: "Captain Hindsight is rising rapidly up the ranks and has become General Indecision".
Surprisingly, it now appears to be the right thing to do according to the PM. What does this make him - Major Failure, Brigadier Buffoon?

I think it’s more they don’t want to be seen to having policy dictated to them by Labour - my bet would be they extend it or put something in its place - we will find out soon.

Labour went ahead with it after hearing a lot of support from Northern Tory MPs.

There is still going to be extra problems finding work in April and (temp) extra costs from the changes due to Brexit. It seems sensible to extend the extra £20 to the end of June. (with a review in April for extending further). In the USA they are giving out $2000 payments which is about 75 weeks @ £20 per week.

I understand it was six who voted with Labour and none of them were from the North or the Midlands.

Can anyone name the three scum, vile & evil MPs who objected and forced the motion to go to a formal vote?

The teesside tories once again show their true colours, still got brexit done and thats all that matters

I used to believe, rather niavely, that villifying the poor was just a tory strategy to garner votes. It maybe once was, but I am absoloutely covinced that the modern conservative party hate the poor and are happy to see children starve.
