It's the American way sadly. You don't stop making shows when they lose artistic merit. They stop making them when they become unprofitable. Which is a good season or two after they loose their quality

That's the thing, isn't it? Terrible US shows go on forever because they still make money. and yet some great shows get cancelled after only one or two seasons. Freaks and Geeks and Carnivale are two that should have gone on for longer but didn't. It's really annoying.
