Top 5 Albums of the Year (read the instructions 🤣🤣)

Idea for a playlist?
Always happy when putting a playlist together.

I normally do a singles of the year playlist for myself but this year to try and get back into listening to albums a bit more I've also done my own AOTY playlist which has been really good as its stopped me from just listening to the same couple of songs off an album. If I get round to it I will stick a link on here (y)

Total lack of regard for the scoring system!! I'd consider disqualification but you've two of my favourites in there so I'll let it count. ;)

But you've given me 6. Which misses out on points and what's the order of your top 5
My humble apologies.....

1. Laura Marling
2. Vampire Weekend
3. Bill Ryder Jones
4. The Cure
5. Glass Animals

There's no doubt one or two I'vge forgetten about too.

Gotta love it when you give a thread some rules and immediately half the posters ignore them 😂

I could easily pick five albums right now, but now I know they will earn points and go into an overall contribution, I need to think very carefully before deciding!

1 Elbow - Audio Vertigo: Elbow ditch the kitchen sink piano ballads and decide to give it some Leaders of the Free World welly
2 Don't Forget Me - Maggie Rogers: classic songwriting on a perfect Sunday morning album
3 Jack White - No Name: Jack White channels The Hives
4 Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy: This year's Wet Leg with a splash of Florence and the Machine
5 Bonny Light Horseman - Keep Me On Your Mind: I'm a sucker for Anais Mitchell's voice

Yard Act - Where's My Utopia just missed out as I overall preferred their debut album and listened to that more.

Not a 2024 album but Lord Huron's Long Lost album has been a revelation for me. I liked the Def Maybe 30 years reissue too.

Surprised there’s been no mention of The The’s Ensoulment yet but probably Romance by Fontains for me.

Special mention to Nick Cave, The Cure and James.
It’s coming - just trying to finish off the whole 5

1. Lupe Fiasco - Samurai
2. Mach-Hommy - #RICHAXXHAITIAN
3. JPEGMAFIA - I LAY MY LIFE DOWN FOR YOU
4. ScHoolboy Q - BLUE LIPS
5. Ka - The Thief Next To Jesus (RIP to Ka)

Need more time with Kendrick, Ab-Soul and Tyler's albums to decide where to place them.

English Teacher…This could be Texas
Yard Act…Where’s my Utopia?
Fontaines DC…Romance
Public Service Broadcasting…The last flight
Nick Cave…Wild God
I like three of those albums and haven’t heard the other two, so I’ll give em a go
